These petroglyphs are from the Argyle Canyon area in Nine Mile Canyon
Utahrockart.net is dedicated to finding, photographing, and sharing as many rock art sites in Utah as possible. Unlike many of the adventure and hiking sites (several of which we use extensively*), this site is dedicated to photography. That said, we can give coordinates to some of the sites and panels, but we don't give as detailed directions on where to find the sites or how to get there as sites dedicated to hiking or adventure. There are some sites for which we don't publish locations, e.g., we won't share the location of art on private property when we've promised the landowner that we won't, or the locations of which are not generally known.
We can also give other information for those interested, e.g., f-stop, ISO, focal length, exact GPS coordinates for where we were when taking (many, but not all) the photos, etc., for those who care.
Occasionally, we'll comment on a panel or glyph, maybe speculate about what it represents. However, none of us are experts in rock art, Native American studies, anthropology, or anything similar. Please let us know if you have thoughts on a glyph or panel.
Some photos include references to various resources. These resources can help readers understand a panel or glyph in the photo, such as its style, motif, etc. As with adding photos, the references take time. We're getting to them as quickly as possible. If you know of a resource for any of the photos, please share it with us.
These photos are best viewed on a PC, particularly with a large monitor. Some glyphs may not be visible on small screens, so those looking at the photos on their phones should tap on the photo to open it and then enlarge it. Any notes about glyphs or panels are usually below the photo(s).
For a short bio, and so the "I" and "we" make sense, stop by the About Us page.
Please read the etiquette page if you plan to visit any of these or other rock art sites.
